GPS Child Tracking Jewelry – 5 Best Safety Picks For Children
Every day, children and adults go missing across the U.S. Back in 2007, 814,957 people were reported missing, and by 2010, that number was expected to pass 1 million. What’s even more heartbreaking is that about half of these cases involve kids under 18, with 65% under 20. And sadly, around 10% of these cases go unsolved each year, leaving many families without closure. This includes missing babies!
So, how can you help protect your child? One option is using a GPS tracker designed for kids. These trackers connect to smartphone apps, giving you real-time updates on their location. Advances in GPS technology have also made it easier for search teams to find missing children by using data from SIM cards and connected devices.
In this article, we’ll walk through how GPS tracking jewelry can add an extra layer of safety for your child. With the right tools and a little preparation, you can help keep your child safe and connected.
AngelSense GPS
|
AngelSense
|
The AngelSense GPS tracker is built to help keep high-risk children safe, including kids with special needs. It comes with everything you need—a tracker, sleeve, USB charger, and three magnetic pins to keep it secure throughout the day, which is especially important for children who need extra monitoring.
A full charge lasts about 26 hours, and it recharges in just under two hours. While the tracker is compact, it’s a bit on the heavy side, which might feel uncomfortable for some kids. It’s also water-resistant but not fully waterproof, so you’ll need to buy a cover if your child plans to wear it during water activities.
Regarding safety, AngelSense’s design aims to be secure, preventing easy removal, which is vital since, according to a National Center for Missing & Exploited Children report, an estimated 800,000 children are reported missing each year in the United States. This statistic underscores the importance of reliable tracking devices for children’s safety.
The service plan for AngelSense is pricier than other trackers, but it includes detailed tracking, calling features, and an SOS button. While it offers advanced security and tracking, the higher cost and how comfortable it feels for your child are things you’ll want to consider before making a decision.

Amazon.com- Review Date -September 26, 2023 I use it to track my son on his school bus to make sure I don’t miss his drop-off. The battery lasts up to 3 days, and the GPS is highly accurate. I was previously using an Apple Tag that wouldn’t track in real time, so I looked for other options. It shows you the MPH he’s going, gives an ETA for home arrival, and sends me a notification when he’s left his school so I know when to start watching the GPS map. I love it. I am very happy with the product, and the $40/month service fee is worth it for peace of mind. |
Nay Negative Review |
Amazon.com - Review Date -September 9, 2023 The device is ok, but the fact that it has a $50 subscription monthly is one thing, and the other flaw is that it has a “limited” call/listen in feature during the month, but if you use it all up before the month is up, then you have to wait until next month to get more call time or you have to pay a higher amount on top of the subscription just to continue to call or listen in to your loved one. For me, I don’t like it, and money doesn’t grow on trees. I didn’t learn about the downfall of the limited call feature until my son was in class, and I tried to check on him but couldn’t without paying more money. If I had known, I would have gone with a different device. Especially because he’s autistic and I need to be able to keep tabs and audio on him at all times without the worry of needing to pay more when the free time runs out. |
Samsung SmartThings Tracker
|
Samsung SmartThings Tracker
|
The Samsung SmartThings Tracker is a device designed to give you real-time updates on your child’s location through a user-friendly smartphone app. This compact, water-resistant tracker uses 4G GPS technology to ensure you can always keep tabs on your child, whether they’re at school, the park, or on the move.
Consider the reassurance this brings, especially in light of statistics from the FBI’s National Crime Information Center, which reported over 340,000 missing children cases in 2020. The ability to instantly locate your child in a world where uncertainties abound cannot be overstated.
Many parents, like one who shared their personal experience in an online review, have found peace of mind in the device’s discreet design and emergency SOS feature, which allows children to send an alert with their location with just a couple of clicks. However, it’s important to be aware of its reliance on cellular coverage, which can be a limitation in areas with poor service. Additionally, the device comes with monthly subscription fees after the initial free period, adding to the cost over time.
Despite these considerations, the Samsung SmartThings Tracker offers a blend of security and convenience. The GPS kid tracker empowers you to maintain a watchful eye over your loved ones without encroaching on their independence, making it a valuable tool in your child safety toolkit.

I have been using the original SmartTag for over 2 years now. I decided to get the new SmartTag2 after I saw the improvements Samsung made in both the design and battery life. I'm now very disappointed as the new device started showing low battery error just 2 months after I activated it! |
Verizons’ GizmoWatch
|
Verizons’ GizmoWatch
|
The Verizon GizmoWatch merges the functionality of a fitness tracker with the security of anti-lost technology, marking it as a standout choice among smartwatches designed for kids. Priced at an accessible $99, this mini smartwatch kid tracker is not only budget-friendly but also simplifies the tracking process with an intuitive mobile app for parents.
The GizmoWatch isn’t just about safety—it also encourages kids to stay active with built-in fitness tracking. The device is designed to be simple, so kids can use it easily, and parents won’t have any headaches setting it up. With a focus on both wellness and security, the GizmoWatch offers a helpful way to keep your child safe while promoting healthy habits.
However, it’s important to consider the feedback from the Verizon store, where the GizmoWatch holds a 2.5-star rating based on 84 verified buyer reviews. This mixed reception suggests that while the watch offers significant benefits, there are aspects that may not meet every user’s expectations.
Given the critical role of technology in enhancing child safety—evidenced by a 2021 study revealing that over 50% of parents use some form of tech to keep track of their children—it’s essential to weigh the GizmoWatch’s advantages against its user feedback. In doing so, you can make a more informed decision on whether its features align with your child’s needs and your expectations for a tracking device.

Goob Positive Review |
Google.com- Review Date - December 10, 2022 I bought this for my 6-year-old son. It's perfect for our needs! No games on the phone (although, to be fair, it has a step counter and a jump counter)! It has GPS and allows phone calls to and from the people you put on the contact list (no telemarketers or anyone else you don't want to call). It also allows texts, but they have to go through the Gizmo app (only Mom and Dad are going to do this with him). Texts are selected on the watch from a bank of messages. Anyway, the Gizmo is really amazing and perfect for our purposes. My son has literally been calling me from his room when he wakes up, calls me from the basement, etc.—he's so excited to have it and loves that he can call me from his friend's house. I also love that I can call him and tell him it's time for him to come home too, instead of having neighbors relay the message to him. Definitely a winner! |

Buddy Tag
|
Buddy Tag
|
Buddy Tag is a child tracking device that comes with a silicone wristband, making it a convenient and wearable mini GPS tracker designed specifically for kids. The Buddy Tag offers a range of features designed to enhance child tracking and safety. One notable feature is the comfortable silicone wristband that comes with the device. This wristband ensures that children can wear the Buddy Tag securely, minimizing the risk of misplacing the tracking device.
Accurate GPS tracking is at the core of the Buddy Tag’s capabilities, providing you with precise location information. This functionality is critical in today’s world, where, according to a report by the Polly Klaas Foundation, nearly 9 out of 10 parents who use child safety devices say it has helped prevent their child from going missing. This statistic underscores the importance of having a reliable tool to monitor your child’s whereabouts.
If you’re considering the Buddy Tag, here are a few things to keep in mind. Some parents have said that kids as young as three figured out how to take off the wristband, which might make it less reliable for safety.
With a 3 out of 5-star rating from over 60 reviews on Amazon, feedback is mixed. Some families like the comfortable design and tracking features, but others felt it didn’t quite meet their needs.
In the end, it’s all about finding what works for your child. If you need a tracker that stays put or prefer one with more consistent reviews, it’s worth thinking this through before making a decision.

Amazon.com- Review Date - December 1, 2023 I bought these for my kids to wear while on vacation. Air tags fit perfectly. They sealed off great and had no issues. My kids swam in them. |

Amazon.com - Review Date - December 4, 2023
The small cap behind it won’t close properly. You can’t trust that this will stay in place while kids play, especially in the water. So it’s not waterproof, nor is it a good air tag holder. Don’t buy!!!! |

Mark Horn Positive Review |
Amazon.com- Review Date - November 23, 2023 I have tested it out a few times, and although it isn’t as pinpoint accurate as my pup's AirTag, the AirTag doesn’t work once we go into the woods. The one thing I was weary about was battery life, and I have had this now for a little over a month, and I have only charged it once. It doesn’t seem to use much battery life at all, as long as it’s in a trusted area. It does send me notifications whenever we leave home, which does take a few minutes to go through to my cell, but that’s to be expected. Overall, I think it definitely helps give me peace of mind that I can track my pup if she gets lost in the woods. |

Amazon.com - Review Date -December 21, 2023
I purchased the kid tracker with high hopes, but my experience has been disappointing. Be aware that attempting to pause the monthly subscription beyond 6 months leads to the device's indefinite deactivation. Even within that time frame, reactivation incurs a fee close to 3 months of subscription. With the initial device cost of $129, subscription expenses, and these unexpected charges, the overall purchase has left me frustrated and regretful. Buyers should beware of the hidden fees and restrictive cancellation policies. |

GPS Child Tracking Jewelry - 5 Key Features For Parents
We here at SpaceHawk GPS believe choosing the right GPS tracker can go a long way in keeping your child safe. But not every tracker is built the same. Here are five important features to look for—each one helping you feel more at ease, whether your little one is at school, the park, or off exploring.
Real-Time Tracking
Real-time tracking shows you exactly where your child is right from your phone. You can even set up geofences around spots like home, school, or the park. If your child wanders outside those areas, you’ll get an instant alert. It’s a game-changer when life gets busy and you need to stay on top of things.
Long Battery Life
Charging a GPS personal tracker every night can get old fast. That’s why a long battery life is so important. Look for one that lasts several days—or even weeks—so you don’t have to stress about it running out at the worst time. A longer battery gives your child the freedom to explore and lets you relax a little more.
Durable and Secure Design
Kids can be tough on their stuff, so you’ll want a tracker that can keep up. Waterproof and shock-resistant designs make sure it survives rain, spills, and playground adventures. Some trackers attach to clothes or shoes, keeping them secure and out of sight—so your kid isn’t tempted to take them off or lose them.
Emergency SOS Button
An SOS button gives your child a quick way to call for help if something goes wrong. With one press, the tracker sends their location straight to you. It’s a small feature that makes a big difference, knowing they can reach you in an emergency.
Reliable Customer Support
When tech issues pop up, fast, real help matters. Look for trackers with U.S.-based customer support that connects you with real people—not chat bots. Whether it’s setting up the tracker or troubleshooting a glitch, having expert help on standby makes all the difference.
Exploring The Limitations Of GPS Child Tracking Jewelry
As a parent, it makes sense to want every tool available to protect your child, including wearable GPS devices. You might even wonder if jewelry, like necklaces or bracelets, could serve as a discreet tracking option. But GPS child tracking jewelry comes with some serious limitations that make it less reliable than other wearable trackers.
Jewelry items like pendants, earrings, or wristbands simply aren’t built to house the components needed for real-time GPS tracking. The technology requires space for antennas, batteries, and processors, which don’t fit well into small jewelry designs. Plus, these items are easy for children to remove, misplace, or break, making them unreliable for safety monitoring.
Instead of jewelry, many parents turn to top-rated personal GPS trackers designed for kids. These trackers offer dependable features like real-time location updates, SOS buttons, and long battery life—things you won’t find in jewelry. Choosing a well-reviewed GPS tracker ensures your child stays safe without the limitations of stylish, but impractical, tracking jewelry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Safety Wearable Devices For Kids Full-Proof?
Wearable GPS trackers can help keep your family safe, but they aren’t a safety guarantee. Even with a tracker on your little one, accidents can still happen in an instant. That’s why it’s so important to stay alert, especially in busy places or situations where risks are higher.
Things like silicone wristbands, personal alarms, and GPS watches are great tools, but nothing beats your presence and attention. In the end, you’re the biggest factor in your child’s safety. These tools are most effective when used alongside active supervision and care.
What Types Of GPS Tracking Jewelry Are Available For Kids?
When it comes to GPS jewelry for kids, there are lots of options—like necklaces, bracelets, and smartwatches. Many of these come with useful features, including real-time tracking, geofencing, and SOS buttons to give you some extra peace of mind. Popular choices include the Mini A9 GPS Tracker Necklace and the Lil Tracker GPS Watch.
That said, not every piece of GPS jewelry will fit your child’s needs. Some of the designs may look cute, but they aren’t always practical. Necklaces and bracelets can be easy for kids to slip off, while smartwatches tend to stay on more securely. The key is finding what matches your kid’s lifestyle—something comfortable and reliable enough to keep them safe without being a hassle for them to wear.
How Do GPS Devices Help Parents Monitor Their Child's Location?
GPS tracking jewelry for kids, like smartwatches and necklaces, helps you keep up with your child’s whereabouts in real time. You can set geofences around key places—like school or home—and get instant alerts if they go beyond those areas. These devices make it easier to stay connected and give you peace of mind, knowing you can check in on your child’s location no matter where they are.
Are There GPS Tracker Watches Specifically Designed For Kids?
Yes! Kids smartwatches, like the Xplora X5 Play and Apple Watch SE, are designed with child-friendly features. They offer location tracking, fitness tracking, and two-way calling. Many also have games and educational apps, making them fun and practical for kids to wear daily.
Can I Use Apple AirTags For Tracking My Child?
Apple AirTags are made for tracking things like keys and luggage, but some parents use them for kids too. With accessories like bracelets, necklaces, or wristbands, you can turn an AirTag into wearable tracking jewelry. Just keep in mind that AirTags aren’t built with child safety in mind—they don’t have SOS buttons or geofencing alerts like other kid-focused trackers.
Do Kids Trackers Have Subscription Fees?
Yes, most GPS trackers—like personal trackers and smartwatches—come with a monthly subscription. This covers the data needed for things like real-time tracking and two-way calling. Prices can vary depending on the device and provider, so it’s a good idea to check out your options and see what fits your budget. Knowing the costs upfront helps you avoid any surprises and ensures you pick the right tracker that works best for your family.
