AngelSense GPS – Best Overall GPS Tracker For Autism

5 Best GPS Trackers For Autistic Children

Safeguarding Your Child With Autism

AngelSense GPS

  • Always Know Where: Accurate, real-time tracking indoors & out.

  • Be Alerted Instantly: Proactive warnings for wandering, danger zones, & more.

  • Talk From Anywhere: 2-way speakerphone with auto-answer for remote support.

4/5
AngelSense GPS is designed with your child’s safety in mind, particularly if they have autism. This GPS device provides real-time location updates, indoor tracking, and location sharing. One of the great things about this product is that the design is crafted for both daily wear, and kids with sensory-sensitivities. In fact, this is one of the few products mindful of this important issue for many kids with autism.

What makes this GPS tracker for autism stand out from AirTags or bluetooth trackers is the intelligent location tracking and geofencing capabilities. These features will alert you the very moment your child wanders from home or school. Not to mention,  if your child rides the bus, you can get regular updates and alerts. Finally, the tracking device supports two-way communication and a unique one-way listening feature, allowing you to check in on your child’s environment whenever necessary.

AngelSense does require a monthly fee, but flexible subscription plans are available, including monthly, annual, and one-year contracts. However, some parents on Reddit stated they spent $349 over a year and the overall service was “mediocre at best”.

Product Highlights:

  • All-Day Real-Time Tracking: Continuous GPS monitoring gives you peace of mind.
  • Assistive Speakerphone: This offers twoway communication, including an SOS mode for emergencies.
  • Intelligent iAlerts: These alert you to unusual activities, like early departures or late arrivals.
  • Safe Ride Monitoring: Track the bus ride to school, with updates on delays or unexpected stops.
  • Emergency Search Tools: Perfect for activating a search team, with a live map and alarm function.
  • Monthly Subscription: At $49.99 per month, the service includes unlimited tracking, 60 voice minutes, and premium safety features.
  • Risk-Free: This GPS device comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, letting you try risk-free.
  • Sensory Friendly Accessories: The package includes a sensory-sensitive wearing sleeve, ensuring comfort for your child.
  • Free First Month: Experience the service for a whole month, free of charge.

With an easy-to-use app compatible with iOS, Android, or Windows, AngelSense provides you with an unrivaled GPS tracking solution for your child. Its sensory-friendly design and automated security system prioritize your child’s safety, giving it an edge over less specialized, cheaper alternatives. Whether at school or on a trip, trust AngelSense to keep your child safe and give you peace of mind.

I've been using Angelsense 2019, and it has really opened up so many possibilities for my family. My son has asthma and wears it all the time. I love it so much that I purchased a second one for my younger son so that when we are out and about, I know where they are at all times. I am more comfortable using angelsense when we go places; I can't live without it now.

I ordered this about a week ago for myself. The battery takes forever to fully charge; after a full day of charging, it only got to 75%. Took it out with my child for around 3–4 hours. My child is in school for approximately 7 hours a day on weekdays. Contact customer support. The only solution he offered was a return. When I said I needed to use it for my child, Still, he just went ahead and created a return.

Apple AirTag – Best Bluetooth Location Tracker For Autistic Kids

Sleek. Simple, and Accessible Location Tracking For Autistic Kids

Apple AirTag

  • Quick Connect: Instantly pair with iPhone/iPad in one tap.

  • Find with Sound: Play built-in speaker or ask Siri for help.

  • Super Close: Ultra Wideband guides you for precise location (specific iPhone models).

4.5/5
Apple AirTag is another one of the hot products that can be used as a solution for tracking your child with autism. In fact, its small, sensory-friendly design can be secured to your child’s clothing, making it an unobtrusive buddy tag for daily use. Oh, and did we mention that it the autism safety product is only $27.99 on Amazon?! Yes, this Bluetooth device is affordable, easy to use, and comes with awesome support. However, remember Apple launched AirTags in April 2021, primarily for tracking items, not people. Why is it important to know  that it’s a location device, not a full-featured autism safety device? Let us explain.

In an interview, Apple executives Kaiann Drance and Ron Huang advised against using AirTags to track children, citing potential limitations and legal concerns. Instead, they recommend an Apple Watch for child tracking. However, for tracking an autistic child, devices like Jiobit or Angelsense might be more reliable. Why? These specialized trackers offer features tailored for child safety, unlike AirTags, which lack specific child-tracking capabilities and could fail in crucial moments. Therefore, for your child’s safety, consider using a dedicated child tracking device.

Product Highlights:

  • Easy Pairing: With an iPhone, tracking becomes a breeze due to Apple’s ecosystem integration.
  • Precision Finding: The AirTag gives you the current location of your child through the ‘Find My’ app.
  • User-Friendly: It is straightforward and simple to use, making it accessible to everyone.
  • Sleek Design: The AirTag is small, lightweight, and sensory-friendly.
  • Price: More affordable than specialized autism GPS devices, but with limited features.
  • Battery Life: The AirTag has a user-replaceable battery that lasts over a year.
  • Internet Safety: The tracking information is encrypted and anonymous to maintain privacy.
  • Apple Ecosystem: Works best within the Apple ecosystem, which can be a limitation for non-Apple users.

While Apple AirTag doesn’t have specialized autism safety features like an SOS mode or two-way communication, its simplicity makes it an accessible tool for basic tracking. The sleek and lightweight design ensures your child won’t be bothered by it. However, if you’re searching for more comprehensive features, consider a device designed with child safety at its core.

The Apple Air Tag is a super gadget. Easy to use and set up. We just purchased this additional device for protection in my wife's car. The number of car thefts has increased in my area, and it is better to be safe than sorry. There is no extra monthly cost. Let’s see if it does the job.

This is taking forever for my refund. 14 days is unacceptable when you have proof I dropped it off at a UPS store and you have my credit card information to recharge me if it is not in acceptable condition. Also, I was under the impression that it would work with an app on my Android phone. It does not work with Android, and this is not stated anywhere! If I don't get my refund, I will really blast the Apple Company for their poor customer service. This is a horrible way to be treated!

Amazon.com- Review Date -September 21, 2023

I bought this GPS to keep track of my motorcycle. I have been testing it out in my SUV since I received it. I charged it the first day and have left it in my vehicle every day. It sits on my console. The battery charge still says 59% after 14 days of use. It sends notifications within seconds of moving. Accuracy is pretty good, but I have noticed it has a slight lag in tracking. Otherwise, it works fantastically. For $7.00 a month plus the initial cost, it is by far the best GPS for the money.

My son has been asking for a phone for awhile now, and we have been reluctant to get him one since he is only 7. This smartwatch was the perfect and safe way to introduce him to the digital world. It's a phone with GPS, and it even has a step counter. I love that it encourages physical activity. He loves that he can make phone calls and text by himself (only to the approved contacts that I set up). He has full use of all features that I set up and am able to control in the parent app. It doesn't have internet capability, so I don't have to worry about anything, and you can also set up safety zones that will send you an alert when the child goes out of the safety zones that I set up. This smartwatch has been a great addition. I totally recommend it.

The watch doesn't have a single reliable function. The GPS either doesn't work or will give you a 4-city block blob. Calls will either not go through or drop suddenly, and it's not a one-off issue. I have two phones that both have the same problems.

8 Key Features To Look For In A GPS Tracker For Autism Safety

Imagine the moment you realize your autistic child is no longer in sight. Panic can set in instantly—but what if you had a way to find them quickly? That’s where a GPS tracker for autism safety comes in. The right device can give you peace of mind, knowing you can locate your baby or child in moments.

But what features matter most in a GPS tracker for your loved one? According to the our security experts, here are the 8 essential features to look for when choosing the best GPS tracking solution for your child with autism.

Real-Time Location Tracking

Knowing exactly where your child is can help you breathe easier. If they wander, you’ll get instant alerts so you can act fast.

Long-Lasting Battery

Constant charging is a hassle. Go for a tracker that lasts, so it’s ready whenever you need it.

Global Coverage

Whether you’re at the park or on vacation, a tracker with broad coverage ensures it works no matter where your child goes.

Panic SOS Button

With one press, your autistic child can call for help. You or their emergency contact will be notified right away.

Two-Way Voice Communication

Some personal GPS trackers let you talk to your child directly, which can be a lifesaver when they feel lost or overwhelmed.

Sensory-Friendly Accessories

Many kids with autism are sensitive to materials. Choose a child GPS tracker with soft straps or comfortable options they won’t mind wearing.

Accurate Location Tracking

When every second counts, precise tracking helps you find your child fast and bring them back to safety.

Location History

Trackers that log past movements make it easier to spot patterns, so you can prevent future wandering.

    GPS Tracker For Kids

    Frequently Asked Questions

How Reliable Are Geofencing Alerts For Kids?

Geofencing alerts are reliable because they notify you the moment your child leaves a safe area you’ve set, like home or school. GPS tracking keeps constant tabs on these boundaries, and if your child crosses one, you’ll get an instant alert on your phone or email.

You won’t have to monitor the tracker every second—geofencing does the work for you by keeping watch in the background. It’s a great way to catch wandering early, giving you the chance to act fast. Plus, when combined with location history, it can help you spot patterns and make adjustments to prevent future incidents. With geofencing in place, you can give your child a bit more freedom while still feeling confident that you’ll know if something goes wrong.

Can Sensory-Friendly Accessories Be Used With The GPS Tracker For Comfort?

Definitely. Manufacturers of GPS trackers for kids, such as Jiobit GPS and Care Trak, understand the unique sensory needs of autistic children. As such, they design their products to be compatible with sensory-friendly accessories. These can include different wearing options to suit the comfort of the child, ensuring the device doesn’t add to their sensory stress.

Can I Communicate With My Child Through The GPS Tracker?

Yes, you can! Many tracking devices for autistic children, like the AngelSense GPS tracker, offer 2way voice communication. This feature can provide reassurance to both the child and the caregiver, especially in emergency situations. Remember, though, to guide your child on its use to prevent misuse or accidental SOS calls.
