GPS Tracking For Babies: 5 Best Every Parent Needs To Know

Hi, and welcome to our best GPS Tracking For Babies review for 2026.

If you’re considering a baby GPS tracker, you’re likely trying to solve one thing: knowing where your baby is when you can’t be right there. Many devices sound reliable, then fall apart with indoor accuracy, delayed alerts, or battery issues once they’re used.

I’m Ryan Horban, a GPS tracking specialist with over 15 years of hands-on testing. That experience now includes baby safety GPS devices, testing which trackers hold up in real daily use.

In this guide, I’ve ranked the best GPS trackers for baby safety based on accuracy, alert reliability, battery life, and ongoing subscription cost. Reading this first can save you from buying a GPS tracking device for babies that struggles indoors or drains too quickly.

Let’s start with a quick side-by-side comparison showing where each tracker fits in our list, so you can find the right option fast if you’re short on time.

Quick Top Picks: Best GPS Tracker For Babies

This quick comparison highlights where each GPS tracker fits based on everyday baby-care needs. This table is designed to give you a clear snapshot of tracking options, caregiver handoffs, and budget-friendly choices, helping you narrow things down quickly without reading every full review

How I Picked and Ranked These 5 Best GPS Trackers for Babies & Kids

Before recommending any GPS tracking device for babies or young kids, I put each option through the same real-world filter I use for every tracker reviewed on SpaceHawk GPS

That starts with hands-on testing and ends with asking one simple question: Would I trust this around my own family?

Each device on this list was evaluated based on accuracy indoors and outdoors, alert reliability, battery life, subscription cost, and how practical it is for everyday use inside a diaper bag, clipped to a stroller, near a car seat, or during daycare and nanny care. I also reviewed verified parent feedback to see how these trackers perform over time, not just during the first week.

Some devices looked good on paper but failed in daily use. Others consistently delivered when reliability was needed.

Below, I’ll start with the tracker that performed best overall and earned the top spot.

AngelSense GPS Tracker: Best for Special-Needs Monitoring

GPS Tracking For Babies

Angelsense GPS Tracker

  • Always Know Where: Accurate, real-time tracking indoors & out.

  • Be Alerted Instantly: Proactive warnings for wandering, danger zones, & more.

  • Talk From Anywhere: 2-way speakerphone with auto-answer for remote support.

4/5

The AngelSense GPS Tracker is a cellular-based GPS tracking device for babies and kids, built primarily for families who need constant location awareness.

AngelSense Tracker is best suited for parents managing wandering risks, structured routines, or special-needs care where real-time alerts matter more than compact size. What sets AngelSense apart is its intelligent alert system, which monitors movement patterns instead of relying only on fixed geofences.

Product Highlights:

  • Live Location Tracking: Stay updated with your child’s movements in real time.
  • Voice Monitoring: Check in on your child’s surroundings when needed.
  • Secure Attachment: Designed to stay put, even on the go.
  • Instant Alerts: Receive notifications for unexpected location changes.
  • Features for Special Needs: Extra tools to support children with autism or other conditions.
AngelSense GPS Tracker For Babies

 Buy On Amazon

During testing, I focused on how AngelSense handled indoor accuracy, alert timing, and attachment security. When placed inside a diaper bag and later clipped using its wearable sleeve, location updates were frequent and consistent outdoors. Indoors, accuracy depended heavily on building structure.

In open daycare spaces, alerts triggered reliably. In reinforced buildings, delays did happen, which matches what some parents report.

The intelligent alerts proved more useful. Instead of waiting for a boundary breach, AngelSense flagged early departures and unexpected stops. That added awareness you don’t get with basic baby location trackers.

And battery life held up through a full day of active use, though nightly charging was still necessary. Compared to smaller infant GPS trackers, AngelSense feels more like a monitoring system than a simple tracker. That works well for structured environments but may feel excessive for parents only looking for occasional location checks.

Choose AngelSense if your priority is continuous monitoring and advanced alerts, especially in daycare or special-needs situations where consistent oversight matters more than compact size.

Astonishingly accurate and useful.
In full transparency, I don't use the call button and have disabled its use through the app, but for tracking and alerts, it is amazing. Also, when it travels by car, it gives an estimate for the fastest speed, which is great. One tip: make sure to set named locations (like your home) since it does less frequent GPS checks in those spots and will keep the battery lasting longer.

Never purchase this product. Within the first week of use, we received an alert showing that our child had wondered into a retention pond. After rushing over and nearly calling the police, it turned out she never left the building. Angelsense told us the windows may have affected the signal. No parent should have to go through this.

Samsung SmartThings Tracker: Best for Short-Range Backup Tracking

Samsung SmartThings Tracker

Samsung SmartThings Tracker

  • Easy Tracking: Tag items, see location in SmartThings Find app.

  • Simple & Durable: Compact, water-resistant, battery lasts up to 500 days.

  • Nearby Search: Get guided directions with Compass View.

4/5

The Samsung SmartThings Tracker is a Bluetooth-based location tag, not a dedicated GPS tracking device for babies. SmartThings Tracker works best as a short-range backup tracker for items like diaper bags, strollers, or travel gear rather than direct infant monitoring.

The main advantage is battery longevity, but that comes at the cost of real-time accuracy and independent GPS connectivity.

Product Highlights:

  • Multiple Tracking Uses: Suitable for tracking people, pets, and belongings.
  • Smartphone App: Locate your child easily at any time.
  • Water-Resistant: Durable design for reliability in different weather conditions.
  • Portability: Easily attached to bags or clothing.
  • Trusted Brand: Samsung offers consistent and reliable performance.
Samsung SmartThings Tracker: Best for Short-Range Backup Tracking

 Buy On Amazon

I used the SmartThings Tracker and attached it to a stroller during short outings. Setup was simple through the SmartThings Find app, and nearby location updates worked reliably when a Samsung Galaxy phone was within range.

And I think that is the key limitation because location updates depend on proximity to other Samsung devices, not on GPS + cellular triangulation.

Indoors, the tracker helped locate items quickly using the audible sound feature. Outdoors, updates were slower and less precise than true baby GPS trackers. This isn’t ideal for daycare monitoring or situations where immediate alerts are needed. But battery life, however, lived up to expectations. After weeks of use, the battery level barely moved.

Compared to dedicated infant GPS trackers, SmartThings functions more like a lost-item locator than a baby safety GPS device. SmartTags can support parental awareness in close-range scenarios, but it’s not built for emergency alerts or continuous monitoring.

Choose the Samsung SmartThings Tracker if you want a long-battery backup option for bags or strollers and already use Samsung Galaxy devices but not if you need real-time GPS tracking for babies.

This is my second Samsung tracker. So long as it is within the BT range of a Samsung Galaxy phone, you can know the approximate location of the tracker. It's small enough to go inside your luggage. Using it as an external tag would make it exposed to being torn off, damaged, or stolen. It's not really intended to find stolen luggage (unless the thief uses a Samsung Galaxy phone). If you are misdirected by an airline, at least you know what airport it is at. That happened to me, and I knew when it was located by the airline and on its way to me. I could even track the delivery service that brought my bag to my home three days later.

This tag requires a monthly subscription of $45 or something, and you also have to have a bank account in order to pay for it. It would have been perfect if I had a bank account, I guess. It might be for you if you're ok with paying that amount just to help you find your keys.

GeoZilla GPS Tracker: Best GPS Tracking with SOS and Geofencing

Geozilla GPS Tracker

Geozilla GPS Tracker

  • Track Anything: Cars, phones, pets, valuables - US & worldwide coverage (even indoors!).

  • 5-Day Battery: Long lifespan without frequent recharging.

  • Wearable & Discreet: Clip to clothes, backpacks, or leashes.

3.5/5

The GeoZilla GPS Tracker is a general-purpose GPS tracking device that works well for families looking for a lower-cost way to monitor location. GeoZilla GPS is better suited for toddlers or situations where a tracker can be placed in a diaper bag or stroller rather than worn directly by a newborn.

This tracker's main appeal is affordability combined with real-time tracking and basic safety alerts. The tracker is highly rated with over 565K reviews on Google Play and a 4.4-star rating, as of 06/01/26.

Product Highlights:

  • Compact and Convenient: Fits easily in various settings.
  • Real-Time Tracking: Know where your child is at all times.
  • Geofencing: Set safe areas and get alerts if your child leaves.
  • Multiple Access Points: Use a smartphone app or web interface for tracking.
  • Affordable Solution: A budget-friendly option for child safety.
GeoZilla GPS Tracker: Best GPS Tracking with SOS and Geofencing

 Buy On Amazon

For GeoZilla, I focused on how it handled short outings and transitions rather than all-day monitoring. I kept the tracker in a small side pocket of a diaper bag during errands and checked how quickly location updates refreshed when moving between stores and parking areas.

Setup through the GeoZilla app was straightforward, and initial location updates appeared quickly outdoors. When moving between locations, geofencing alerts triggered as expected, though timing depended heavily on cellular signal strength. Battery life matched expectations for a budget device.

With 60-second update intervals, the tracker needed charging every few days. Indoors, especially in larger buildings, location updates occasionally lagged. This aligns with parent feedback noting delayed notifications during data loss.

Compared to higher-end baby safety GPS devices, GeoZilla prioritizes cost over consistency. This device works best as a basic location tracker rather than a high-reliability monitoring tool for daycare or time-sensitive alerts.

Go with GeoZilla if you want a budget-friendly GPS tracker for light, occasional use and are comfortable trading longer battery life and advanced alerts for a lower upfront cost.

Using an easy app like GeoZilla, you'll be able to track everything important to you. We don't own a garage, and we often can't find the car in the morning after the other person moved it and parked it elsewhere. Now in one place, we can always locate the car, get a notification that it's moved or coming back ("Honey, I'm Home"), and there's an easy SOS button for emergencies. We have also now decided to get a dog, and especially during the training period, we want to get him a second one to be able to locate him while he's still running around.

I was concerned about coverage, so before I purchased it, I attempted to find out what recourse I'd have if I had poor coverage. The support rep assured me coverage wouldn't be a problem. It's my own fault; I wanted it to work. I should have known better. It doesn't work. I contacted support for help, but they were no help.

XPLORA x6 Play Kids Watch: Wearable GPS with Communication Tools

XPLORA x5 Play Kids Watch

XPLORA x6 Play Kids Watch

  • Secure Calls & Texts: Make and receive calls, send messages, images, and voice recordings with approved contacts.

  • SOS Button & Alerts: Instantly notify parents of emergencies with one-click SOS and location sharing.

  • GPS & Safe Zones: Track location in real-time and set zones to receive alerts upon entry or exit.

3.1/5

The XPLORA x6 Play is a child-friendly smartwatch that combines GPS tracking with basic communication tools. While it isn’t designed for newborns or infants, some parents consider it during the later baby or toddler stage, especially for short outings in busy, public places where a wearable feels more practical than a clip-on tracker.

Location tracking and geofencing allow you to check where your child is and receive alerts if they move outside a defined area.

The watch also includes an SOS button that sends a location alert when pressed, though it requires a longer hold to prevent accidental activation. Location accuracy is designed for general awareness rather than pinpoint precision, making it more suitable for open spaces than indoor monitoring.

Added features like activity rewards are clearly aimed at older children, reinforcing that this option works best as a communication-first device, not a dedicated GPS tracking solution for babies.

Product Highlights:

  • Wearable Design: Stays securely with your child.
  • GPS Tracking: Offers accurate location information.
  • Communication Features: Make calls and send messages directly from the watch.
  • Parent-Controlled Safety: Set up safe zones for your child.
  • Kid-Friendly Interface: Designed for easy use by children.
XPLORA x6 Play Kids Watch: Wearable GPS with Communication Tools

 Buy On Amazon

When testing the XPLORA x6 Play, I focused on interaction, response time, and location reliability, not attachment or concealment. The watch worked as intended when worn during outdoor play, with Safety Zone alerts triggering once boundaries were crossed. Location updates were adequate for general awareness, though accuracy varied depending on network conditions.

Calling and messaging features functioned, but delays were noticeable at times and especially with texts.

This reinforces that XPLORA works better as a communication-first device rather than a precision tracking tool. The SOS button requires a longer press, which reduces accidental triggers but may slow response in urgent moments.

Compared to GPS tracking devices for babies, XPLORA feels like a child communication platform with tracking added.

Go with the XPLORA x6 Play if you need a GPS watch for an older child who can communicate independently. Skip it if your priority is passive, real-time GPS tracking for babies or infants.

I could only get one phone number entered. I wouldn't allow you to add another number. The time lag from calling and texting is terrible. . 10 minutes after sending a text, it would go through. Or the call would ring several minutes after the call. Texting wouldn’t work because the keyboard would freeze up. Yes, I used their SIM card.

Jiobit Smart Tag: Best for Passive GPS Tracking for Babies

Jiobit Smart Tag

Jiobit Smart Tag

  • Data Plans for Jiobit: Keeps your tracker connected & you informed.

  • Monthly or Annual: Choose the subscription that fits your needs.

  • No Extra SIM: Built-in cellular, ready to use out of the box.

4/5

The Jiobit Smart Tag is a dedicated baby safety GPS device designed for parents who want reliable, passive location monitoring without relying on interaction from the child. Jiobit Gen 3 is well suited for babies and infants because of its compact size, secure attachment options, and accurate real-time updates using a combination of GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks.

Compared to general-purpose trackers, Jiobit focuses on consistency and discretion rather than communication features.

Product Highlights:

  • Long Battery Life: Enjoy up to a week of tracking on a single charge.
  • Geofencing: Create safe zones and receive alerts if your child leaves the area.
  • Mobile App: Track your child in real-time and access location history easily.
  • Durability: Built to withstand the rough and tumble of toddler play.
  • Compact Size: Lightweight and unobtrusive, perfect for little adventurers.
Jiobit Smart Tag: Best for Passive GPS Tracking for Babies

 Buy On Amazon

For Jiobit, I focused on attachment security, indoor accuracy, and alert timing. The tracker was secured to clothing during short indoor periods and monitored during daycare-style routines where signal reliability needed more than movement speed.

Location updates refreshed consistently, even indoors, thanks to Wi-Fi and cellular triangulation working alongside GPS. Geofencing alerts triggered shortly after entering or leaving trusted places, which is critical when monitoring transitions like drop-offs and pickups. Battery life held up through several days of normal use before needing a recharge.

Compared to other baby GPS trackers, Jiobit required less adjustment and fewer compromises once set up. And this device works best as a background safety layer, supporting parental awareness without needing interaction from the baby.

Go with Jiobit if you want a reliable GPS tracker for babies that prioritizes accuracy, secure attachment, and consistent alerts over communication features.

GPS Tracking For Babies: What Features Actually To Look For

What Features Actually To Look For In Babies GPS Tracker

When choosing GPS tracking for babies, focus on features that work without any interaction from the baby. Infants can’t press buttons, explain what happened, or recharge devices, so reliability helps more than feature count.

Based on hands-on testing, these are the features you should prioritize in a baby GPS tracker:

  1. Real-time alerts that trigger quickly
  2. Subscription plans that justify their cost
  3. SOS and emergency alert access for caregivers
  4. Accurate location tracking indoors and outdoors
  5. Battery life that lasts through daily routines
  6. Secure attachment and durable design

The sections below break down each feature, how it helps in everyday baby care, and what to look for before buying. So you don’t end up with a tracker that sounds good but fails in real use.

1. Real-Time Alerts

Real-time alerts notify you when something changes or your baby leaves a safe zone, arrives somewhere unexpected, or movement occurs when it shouldn’t. You’re not staring at a map all day. Alerts act as your second set of eyes, letting you respond quickly during daycare drop-offs, nanny care, or short outings.

Look for a GPS tracker that sends alerts within seconds rather than minutes, includes clear entry and exit notifications for trusted locations and gives you control over how and when alerts fire so they stay helpful instead of overwhelming.

When alerts arrive late or can’t be customized, they stop serving their purpose and quickly become something parents ignore rather than rely on.

Real-Time Alerts

2. Subscription Cost (And What You Actually Get)

Most GPS tracking devices for babies rely on cellular data, which means an ongoing subscription.

Child GPS trackers typically require a monthly subscription to cover cellular service and data usage, allowing real-time location updates, mobile app access, alerts, and location history. Without it, many trackers lose their core functionality and behave more like basic location tags.

When comparing options, focus on:

  • Clear monthly or annual pricing that’s easy to understand upfront, so you know exactly what you’ll be paying over time without digging through fine print.
  • Unlimited real-time tracking, rather than plans that cap updates or slow refresh rates once you hit a usage limit.
  • No surprise activation, SIM, or setup fees, which can quietly inflate the real cost after purchase.

Keep the long-term cost in mind, because sometimes trackers that look affordable at checkout often cost more over time once subscription fees are added.

3. SOS and Emergency Alerts

Panic and Emergency Button in Tracker for Care Givers

An SOS feature acts as a direct emergency signal, sending an immediate alert with the baby’s location when something feels off. Since babies can’t activate this themselves, the feature is designed for caregivers who need fast access to location data without navigating through menus or settings.

These are the details you should check before trusting an SOS feature:

  • Straightforward activation that works quickly without multi-step sequences or long press requirements
  • Alerts that cut through silent or Do Not Disturb modes, ensuring you don’t miss them
  • Accurate location sharing tied directly to the SOS alert, not delayed or buried inside the app
  • Clear confirmation that the alert was sent, so you’re not guessing whether it worked

When SOS designs become complicated, they slow response time. A good system works instantly and removes uncertainty when seconds count.

4. Location Accuracy

Location accuracy depends on how well a tracker combines GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular triangulation rather than relying on GPS alone. Because babies spend most of their time indoors like at home, in nurseries, or at daycare, where GPS signals are weaker and less reliable.

And trackers that use multiple networks provide steadier location updates as your baby moves between rooms or buildings, instead of jumping around the map or lagging behind.

When evaluating accuracy, prioritize consistency over speed. A tracker that stays anchored to the correct location indoors and outdoors is far more useful than one that refreshes quickly but shows unreliable positioning.

5. Battery Life

Battery life decides whether a GPS tracker quietly supports your day or constantly interrupts it. When power runs out mid-day, tracking stops entirely, leaving you without updates when you’re expecting them.

When you’re comparing baby GPS trackers, focus on how long the device lasts during normal use. Multi-day battery life reduces how often you need to think about charging, while in-app low-battery alerts give you time to react before the tracker shuts down. Pay attention to realistic runtime claims and how easy recharging fits into daily routines.

A tracker that requires nightly charging quickly becomes inconvenient and is less likely to be used consistently.

Battery Life of CHild GPS Tracker

6. Attachment Security and Durability

Attachment and durability determine whether a GPS tracker stays with your baby throughout the day or becomes something you’re constantly checking on. Babies move, squirm, nap, get changed, and spill things.

So a tracker needs to hold up without slipping off or breaking under normal use. Weak clips or fragile housings quickly turn a safety tool into a source of frustration.

Before choosing a tracker, make sure it offers:

  • Secure attachment options that stay in place on clothing, carriers, or baby accessories without relying on loose clips
  • Water-resistant protection to handle drool, spills, diaper changes, and everyday messes
  • A sturdy casing that won’t crack or pop open from regular handling or movement

Durability isn’t something you notice right away, but over time it decides whether a tracker remains dependable or slowly becomes unreliable.

Newborn Safety Tips That Work Alongside GPS Tracking

GPS tracking for babies supports location awareness, but it isn’t a replacement for basic newborn safety practices. The most effective approach blends everyday precautions with tools that keep you informed when your baby is with caregivers or outside your immediate view.

Newborn Safety Tips

On that page, NCMEC states that a child is reported missing every 40 seconds in the United States, based on national reports across all age groups.

That perspective is reinforced by Nancy Price, a mother and owner of SheKnows, who worked for years as a hospital cuddler and has seen newborn safety risks firsthand. As she shared, “Sadly, I have been around situations where a family had their newborn baby stolen or switched, and the setting is heartbreaking.”

Her experience highlights why simple safeguards still matter, even in trusted environments. To support that layered approach, keep these practical habits in mind:

  • Confirm matching hospital ID bracelets and double-check them during your stay
  • Note basic physical details early, such as hair, length, and distinguishing features
  • Be mindful of public signals that announce a newborn at home, both offline and online
  • Stay attentive during caregiver handoffs, including daycare or family transitions
  • Use GPS tracking as a backup layer, not a substitute for direct supervision

Used together, everyday newborn safety practices and GPS tracking create a more complete approach to protection and adding awareness without adding unnecessary worry.

Final Thoughts on GPS Tracking for Babies

GPS tracking for babies is about choosing a tool that supports awareness when your baby is with a caregiver, at daycare, or moving between familiar places. When used the right way, a baby GPS tracker works quietly in the background and gives you reliable location access when you need it.

As you’ve seen throughout this guide, not all trackers are built for infant use. Size, attachment security, indoor accuracy, battery life, and alert reliability all play a bigger role than flashy features.

Some devices work better as general trackers, while others are designed specifically to stay with a baby and deliver consistent updates without interaction.

The best choice depends on how and where you plan to use the tracker. You should focus on realistic daily scenarios, long-term costs, and how easily the device fits into your routine. A tracker that is simple, dependable, and easy to manage is far more useful than one packed with features you’ll never use.

If you keep those priorities in mind, you’ll be far more likely to choose a GPS tracking solution that actually supports your baby’s safety and your day-to-day life.

Frequently Asked Questions About GPS Tracking for Babies

Is GPS tracking safe for babies?

GPS tracking devices designed for babies are generally safe when used as intended. Most trackers are small, lightweight, and worn or placed externally, such as in a diaper bag or attached to clothing. They do not emit harmful levels of radiation and are regulated for consumer use. That said, GPS trackers are meant to support parental awareness.

Can a baby actually wear a GPS tracker?

Babies don’t use GPS trackers the way older children do, and they’re not expected to interact with them at all. Most GPS trackers for babies are designed to work passively, meaning they stay with your baby without buttons to press or screens to use. The focus is on secure placement, comfort, and consistent tracking rather than wearable interaction.

In everyday use, baby GPS trackers are typically placed in one of the following ways:

  • Securely attached to clothing using dedicated clips or sleeves
  • Placed inside a stroller or carrier pocket during outings
  • Carried in a diaper bag when the baby is with a caregiver
  • Attached to baby accessories designed for safe, non-intrusive use

Because babies can’t adjust or remove a tracker themselves, comfort and attachment security matter more than features like screens or communication. When placed correctly, a baby GPS tracker stays out of the way and works quietly in the background, providing location awareness without disrupting daily routines.

Can I Put A GPS Tracker On My Baby?

Yes, if you are the parent or legal guardian of the child have the legal right to use a mini GPS tracker to monitor your baby. However, parents should be cautious when placing a GPS device on a baby as it could pose a choking hazard.

Can I Use Apple AirTags To Track My Child?

While Apple AirTags are designed to help you track items like keys, wallets, or backpacks, they aren't ideal for tracking your child. AirTags don’t provide real-time GPS updates and were not built with child safety in mind.

They work by connecting to nearby Apple devices, which means if there aren't any around, tracking can be spotty.

If you're considering using an AirTag to monitor your child, you might want to explore devices specifically designed for that purpose, like real-time GPS trackers that offer better accuracy and safety features.

Can You Put A Tracker On The Stroller?

Yes, you can absolutely put a mini GPS tracker on your baby’s stroller to get real-time location updates. This can help you keep track of your child and offer peace of mind, especially if you have a nanny. A lot of parents choose this for that extra layer of security.

One of the best parts is knowing exactly where your child’s stroller is at all times. If it ever gets lost or stolen, you can easily find it. Plus, you can keep an eye on the nanny’s movements to make sure your little one is safe, which can give you more confidence throughout the day.
